Valentine Byrne is a producer, performer, ghostwriter, audio engineer, and multi-instrumentalist with over 20 years of experience in classical piano and a B.A. in Music Theory & Composition from New York University. Her collaborations and productions have millions of streams across listening platforms with credits appearing on multiple Editorial Playlists including Spotify’s Top 50 Viral in the US, Fresh Finds, and Young & Free. Byrne composed, produced, recorded, and mixed her debut solo EP, Baby on a Wall, in addition to performing all instruments (guitar, piano, drums, bass, synths) and vocals present on the release. Elliot James Mulhern (Ramones, Maroon 5, Ne-Yo) of Blossöm Records and Grammy nominated engineer Nacor Zuluaga Morelo (Enrique Iglesias, 50 Cent, Talib Kweli) mastered Baby On a Wall.
Inspired by Sevdaliza, FKA Twigs, and Portishead, Byrne’s unique live set features the use of her Boss RC-505 mkII looping pedal to create live vocal harmonies, languid beatbreaks and layered analog synths. She has performed at notable events such as Burning Man 2022, Umbrella Weekend Festival and at some of the most well-known venues in NYC and CA including (le) Poisson Rouge, House of Yes, Arlene's Grocery, Rockwood Music Hall, Music Box, and The Bowery Electric. With clients in the US (LA, SD, Philadelphia, Chicago, SF, NYC), Russia, Italy, Brazil, and France, her compositions have been featured at the Tribeca Film Festival, The Juilliard School, and CRSSD.
Working at the renowned recording studio Engine Room Audio in NYC between 2011-2016 and now out of her private recording studio in San Diego, Byrne has collaborated with a variety of well-known talents such as veteran producer J Chris Griffin (Madonna, John Legend, Janet Jackson), The Voice’s Raquel Castro, jacuzzi jefferson, Real J. Wallace, Burko, Fred Scarf, Big Tent Revival, Jordan James, Laeticia De Valer, and multi-platinum engineer Gabe MG (SZA, Mobb Deep, Trey Songz, Pharrell). She was also involved in Pool Cosby’s album Blind Gold which featured artists including Adrianne Lenker of Big Thief, KOOL A.D. of Das Racist, Mr. Muthafuckin’ eXquire, DUVV, and Raekwon of Wu-Tang Clan. She has played keys and sang for a variety of well known artists such as Pixie & The Partygrass Boys and TV Broken 3rd Eye Open, and is currently the synth player for the San Diego based alt-indie band Ten Bulls. Valentine also performs as a vocalist for San Diego based post metal band, Pire.
Enamored by the study of altered consciousness, her melodies and lyrics often come to her between consciousness and sleep. Byrne strives to express her search for purpose, belonging, and contentment through her writing. Byrne is committed to social justice and prioritizes bringing awareness to the homelessness crisis in her hometown of San Diego. She advocates for musical education in low income neighborhoods through her work with local non-profit Mid-City Community Music (MCCM) and has been teaching piano and music theory for over 10 years. She stands with the BLM Movement, her LGBTQIA+ brothers and sisters, and she is dedicated to fighting for the rights of all humans through creative expression.
